Stock update, Sept 3 – Zoas, SPS, LPS!

LPS, Softies, SPS, Stock Updates, Zoanthids 1 Comment »

Hello all,

Time for a stock update! We are adding oodles of new pieces to the site today. Finally, additional SPS is being added to the site! πŸ™‚ First, the news. Then, the new products!

New farmers

We’ve added two new farmers to ExoticFrags on this update as well. One of which is Hydro Innovations, welcome!

Our other new farmer, a local farmer, has decided to run a promotion on their newly listed corals. Buy 4, get 1 free! This is an excellent chance to get a collection of tank raised SPS (and some LPS too!) that is new to our site . The free coral is of course the least expensive of your 5 choices. (Typical sale rules, eh?) Feel free to take advantage of this multiple times. A list of participating corals can be seen here: “Buy 4, get 1 free” sale corals

Email issues

We experienced some email technical difficulties while upgrading the backbone of our website. This occurred from August 12th through August 23rd. We were able to recover most of the lost emails, but not all of them. If you contacted us during that time frame and we did not reply, our apologies! The issue is all ironed out now. Please drop us another line and we’ll get back to you ASAP. For the techies out there (myself included!): It had to do with an IP address change vs. an IP address authenticated email management software package (amongst other authentication mechanisms).

Seeking the following

We’re in need of quite a bit of drygoods and our list of livegoods that we are looking for never ends! πŸ™‚ If you’ve got anything on this list that you aren’t using or would consider parting with, drop us a line. We’d love to trade! One of the more interesting things on the list are some iPod touches! (or iPhones) Yup – reef related. We want to use them to monitor several tanks at remote locations. πŸ™‚ That new iPod touch comes out next week, no? Are you considering upgrading? We could use your old iPod Touch! Or perhaps you have an iPhone 3GS laying around since that iPhone 4 upgrade… We could use that too! See the details below.

  • Dry Goods that we are seeking
    • iPod Touch and/or iPhone. Odd request, eh? This is for various tank monitoring applications. I’m seeking a 2nd Generation iPod Touch, and a few 3rd Generation iPod Touch and/or iPhone 3GS. I’m not interested in the cellular aspect of the iPhone. So if you’ve got one that works except the cell part, we may be able to work something out. I do need the wifi portion to work though. I figure there are probably quite a few folks out there that upgraded to the iPhone 4 or are planning on upgrading to the new iPod Touch coming out soon (next week, right?) that may be interested in parting w/ their old one for some nice corals! πŸ™‚
    • ATB Cone Skimmer – Small

Corbin’s Tort

Corbin’s Tort: A collector in Texas stumbled across this coral. Although it was brown and ugly he bought it because of the interesting growth pattern. The coral took almost a year to completely color up to what it is now which is a metallic emerald green with a blue hue. After seeing what was going to be the final product, the hunt was on to find out where the awesome coral came from and what it was. After hours and hours of research these roads led to a dead end every time. Because this coral is the show piece of the tank, cutting this coral for fragging by typical means is out of the question. Instead, fragging is done by breaking single coralites off of the colony and growing them for at least 4 months before they are ready to sell. By this time they are encrusting and are at least 1/2″ tall. Not many of these frags will be available at a time, only a couple will be released intermittently.
